So...Memorial Day, we found ourselves returning to Seattle for a shower and then as if we hadn't had enough hiking...we got ready and hiked some more. This time it was some new scenery. We headed to Discovery Park. We were headed to the beach...hopefully it would be low tide and we could show my husband some sea life! We headed out down the trail. The weather was gorgeous, warm with a cool breeze, TONS of people and dogs. I started snapping pictures right away! We headed down to the beach and as we headed down I overheard a lady say that this was the lowest tide of the year...and sure enough...there was a lot of exposed sand. We saw all manner of sea life...sea cucumbers, starfish, water fowl, sea slugs, sea anemones, hermit crabs, crabs, and some little fish. It was so beautiful and colorful! The other thing I noticed was that families used the drift wood to make lean tos...to shade from the sun, eat under or kids used to make forts!
