New Resolve

So, I weighed in Saturday after about two weeks. I had gained .4 (so not even half a pound). I am at 185.4, a little over 10 lbs away from my goal. I feel like I have been here and failed too many times. I realize I shouldn't be too hard on myself. But it is hard. I wish I could eat whenever I want...whatever I want. I know I can't. But it is hard. I need to make lifelong changes...and that means breaking habits that I have formed for nearly 30 years! It is hard. But, I am resolved. I plan to get on track. Not beat myself up about my mistakes and get to my goal! I went to the grocery and purchased things that I used when I first started on this journey in May 2007. My hope is these items will help me right now. I also need to get back into some regular exercise! I plan to walk to work 4 days this week! I would love to return to yoga...but I need to find out what in the world is going on with my arms...they aren't working right now...UGH! Anyway...I figure if I get this in writing...I have a reminder and a way to keep myself accountable. I will try and write both my successes and failures. Hopefully I am going to hit goal before my birthday in July!

Bloomsday...a little late!

Okay, I did Bloomsday, although there is no real record of it. I swear I checked the ankle thing before I left the registration pickup...and I swear I put the thing on the right ankle...but I am not in the finishers anywhere...all of the other people I walked with are. Oh well. It was a chilly day...promised rain. So, we bundled up in our rain gear and made sure we had layers. We had a great walk. At first we were averaging 15 to 16 minute miles...walking of course and then...I drink a lot of water so right before Doomsday Hill I needed to pee...and we LOST our great average...we would have done so much better. There needs to be something we can do to avoid having to pee during the walk. I can not imagine not drinking water! So...I have to think of something next year, OR I need to ignore the urge. Last year I had hoped to walk with a 20 lb pack...well, my backpack was about 10lbs...maybe next year. And...recovery wasn't too bad. We got home Sunday after walking and eating at Red Robin, and everyone wanted to nap. I was sore Monday and maybe sore Tuesday...but nothing too major! If you haven't ever done Bloomsday, try it! I hope to do it again next year!
